1. Requirements to request cancellation at no cost
If you have an active project (with the status “Working”) and wish to cancel it by returning the funds currently held in escrow, you can request cancellation at no cost if any of the following situations apply:
- The client never provided you with the materials or information needed to start the work.
- The client hired you but stopped communicating or responding to your questions in the chat.
- The client released a partial payment for a deliverable that had already been completed, but then disappeared and will not continue with the rest of the project.
2. Essential security rules
Before completing the form, make sure you comply with the following platform security requirements:
- Back up your partial deliveries: If you have already received a partial payment for the project, make sure that all corresponding deliverables are uploaded to the official Workana chat. This ensures that your client has legitimate access to the work they have already paid for.
- Contact exclusivity: If it is detected that you exchanged emails, phone numbers, or external social media accounts with the client, the cancellation request will be rejected.
- Deposit status: This process applies only to projects that are already in the “Working” stage (with the escrow deposit confirmed). Requests for projects in “Awaiting escrow” status will not be processed.
3. Form submission and resolution
- To proceed, you must manually complete the official Freelancer Cancellation Form.
- Our Support team will review the case and process the refund of the balance to the client within a maximum of 72 business hours.
- Important warning: If it is determined that you received a partial payment but did not submit the corresponding deliverable in the chat before requesting cancellation, your account may be permanently sanctioned.
