How can I find a freelancer on Workana?
The easiest way to find a freelancer is by posting a project.
You can choose between two hiring options:
- Fixed price: when you can agree with the freelancer in advance on the total project fee or set partial payments for different stages of the work.
- Hourly: when the work is billed based on the hours the freelancer dedicates to the project.
Here, we explain in more detail how fixed-price projects work.
After publishing your project, you will start receiving proposals from professionals interested in participating. You can also search for professionals directly on Workana and invite them to apply.
If a professional is interested, they can send you a proposal for you to review.
You can communicate with interested professionals through the chat that will be available for each applicant or, if you prefer, through Workana’s video call service.
Clients who have a client plan can start a video call with any freelancer.
IMPORTANT: During this stage, before hiring, we recommend not requesting or sharing external contact information for the security of both parties.
Once you have chosen the professional who will carry out the project, simply accept their proposal and make the payment into escrow to start working together.
If the project is fixed-price:
Workana uses an escrow payment model. We recommend keeping the funds in escrow, as this protects your money and allows the funds to remain in the project until you receive the freelancer’s completed work and confirm that you are satisfied with the result.
Once you have reviewed and approved the work, you can authorize the release of the funds to the freelancer through the corresponding option.
Please note that once the release is authorized, the funds are released immediately, and Workana will not be able to recover the money once it has been released.
If the project is hourly:
In this case, there is no escrow deposit: you will pay for the hours as the freelancer logs them and you approve them.
To start the project, you will need to verify your credit card by associating it with the project. During this process, a small verification charge will be made solely to confirm that the card is active. This amount will subsequently be reversed and will not be considered a payment to the freelancer or to Workana.
For both options, Workana provides tools for cancellation and dispute resolution:
Fixed-price projects: if it is necessary to cancel the project, the client and freelancer can do so by mutual agreement. If they are unable to reach an agreement, they can use Workana’s arbitration process.
Hourly projects: the freelancer records the hours worked, and the client can review, approve, or reject them.
Recommendations for a great experience on Workana:
Keep communication within the project. It is important that the initial agreement, any changes or modifications, issues, and project progress are recorded in the Workana chat. This allows us to have a complete record of the project and provide better assistance if any issues arise.
Release the funds only after receiving and reviewing the freelancer’s work. You can make a partial or full release, as applicable, but we recommend doing so only after you have received and approved the corresponding delivery. This way, when you release the payment, you will already have the work result in your hands, whether it is partial or complete.
Never make payments in advance or outside the Workana platform. Keeping your funds in escrow helps protect your payment until you receive and approve the corresponding work.
